I was already in Dance in Primary School, and I thought I was a fairly well-trained dancer. I chose Edgefield because of its good reputation for Dance. But I was in for a surprise! The focus on physical training and stamina building was a lot more intense than I expected. The standard of dance was also much higher than I had anticipated and I knew I had a lot to work on.

Even though Dance is a Performing Arts CCA, there’s so much to learn – being patient, respecting each other and having a spirit of excellence. It also requires lots of teamwork. Like when you’re given a small role in the choreography - you’re still expected to dance your best and master your part.

I’ll always remember our training for SYF. All those gruelling practices we put in were worth it. But we could also have fun together. When our seniors put on some groovy music, it became an impromptu Zumba session where everyone came up with dance moves and we copied each other. Clinching a distinction for SYF was truly the icing on the cake!
